Intro

You are a common man immersed in a routine and mediocre life. Day after day you expect something interesting to come your way. One morning after reading the newspaper you find a letter by the door. From the living room comes a noise of heels. You tear the envelope and nervously pocket the letter. Your wife just passed. Now you are alone. You unfold the paper and begin to read.

"Dear Sir: I have the high honor to inform you that you have been designated to fulfill one of the most important missions in the history of man: Eliminate The Beast."

You look up and wonder, "Who is that Beast? It must be some escaped convict or a drug dealer." You continue reading.

"The Beast is one of the most feared and mysterious creatures in the universe. According to several reports that have come to us lately, there is a place called The Fortaleza, although there are those who say that The Beast and The Fortaleza are the same thing. No one has seen The Beast (those who did could never tell). We only know that The Fortaleza appears every Tuesday, April 24 in leap years, that is, almost never."

"Your mission is: enter The Fortaleza and kill The Beast. Nothing else. Have a change of clothes ready (work clothes preferably) for when we come to pick you up."

General X. Head of the Office of Coincidences.

You keep the paper slowly. You can't believe what's happening. Why me? you ask yourself. You have to see the turns that life takes. Several minutes earlier you were anxious for something special to happen. You should be satisfied. One does not know with which one wins and with which one loses.

Gameplay

Characters

Throughout your adventure, you will encounter several characters that you can interact with. Each one has a unique role and may or may not help you on your quest.

Characters that Help You

Some characters will give you useful information if you deduce the items they need and give them to them.

For example:

  • See goblin
    He is very dehydrated.
  • Ask goblin
I'm dying for the most basic.
  • Give goblin bottle of water
Thank you very much. I've been waiting for this for a long time.
  • Ask goblin
To cross the cave you must carry the ring with you!

In other words, by seeing the character’s description, or trying to ask him, you could deduce what item he needs. And by giving him that indicated item, you would help him with advice to move forward.

Clarification: It is very important to know what the character needs. If you give him the wrong item, he will still not help you and you will lose the item.

Unhelpful Characters

Other characters are obstacles and will not help you willingly. To get information from them, you must kill them with the appropriate items.

For example:

  • Ask the ogre
He does not wish to speak to you.
  • Kill the ogre with the stone
All your efforts are in vain. You are probably not using the right item.
  • Kill the ogre with the crossbow.
You have killed me!! Read the wizard's scroll if you want to find the princess!

So if you use the right item and manage to kill him, he will reveal something useful to you before he dies.

Items

Items are the other key piece of the game. Most of them have their role and you can figure out what it is.

Gift Items

There are items that are used to give and get advice in return. You can pick them up and carry them around, as long as you don’t exceed the weight you can carry.

The easiest way to find out if an object is carryable is to try it. You can also weigh it using the scale.

Items to Kill

There are items that would only serve to kill characters that don’t help. You can still carry them around, although these are heavier.

Items You Can Break

There are some items that you have to break and find out what’s inside them.

The description of the item might tell you if it should be broken. You also have to figure out which tool to break it with, or just try with several.

For example:

  • See wooden box
It has something metallic inside. You can't tell what it is.
  • Break wooden box with rock
    You try, but you can't.
  • Break wooden box with knife
    CRASSSHHH!!! You have discovered something!

Note: Sometimes it is difficult to deduce that an object can be broken. The solution would be to try to carry it, interrogate it, and if all else fails, then it is very possible that it is an object that must be broken.

Doors

Common doors

To go from one place to another, doors are used. Most of the time they are common doors. Although there are some things that can also be crossed even if it seems “irrational”. It is up to you to discover them. The easiest way to find out would be to try to cross them.

Enchanted doors

Before crossing the doors, you must open them first. But there are doors that only open with passwords. Your task is to find the clues that tell you how to open these types of doors.

For example:

  • Open magic door
You try to open it, but you can't do it. You need some magic words.
  • Open magic door by saying Abracadabra

There are other types of doors, which you need to cross with a specific object on you. On the other hand, there are others that you must cross without carrying a specific object on you. These types of doors must be found through clues given by the characters.

Tips for your Mission

The descriptions of the objects and characters contain the clues. Examine everything so you don’t miss important details.

Use the Map option in the menu to mark objects and characters that you leave behind and suspect that you still have unfinished business with them. For example, an object that you can’t take with you because you’re already carrying too much, or a character who hasn’t yet found the right object to give them.

Use the Notes option in the menu to write down information that you receive along the way. For example, confessions from characters, or descriptions of objects that you consider to be clues.

Use the Back option in the menu to undo actions. For example, if you give the wrong item to a character, you can undo that command and get the item back.
